HOW ARE THE CAMPAIGNS WORKING TOGETHER?
Emma & Getachew, and the members of True Blue and Students First have agreed to form a coalition dedicated to electing candidates who share a common vision for the ASUO: Broad representation of students across campus, a vigorous effort to determine important student concerns on campus and fight for them when elected, and a firm commitment to ethical leadership during and after the elections.
Accordingly, our campaigns have decided to collaborate in our outreach efforts for the general election. Though our individual campaigns will remain autonomous, and maintain all their original beliefs and platform ideas, we have agreed to work together to help elect the respective candidates from each group. We know that there are differences in the ideas and platforms that we each presented in the primaries. However, we believe that the students who supported each of our campaigns in the primaries should feel confident that all of the candidates running in our coalition share the same vision of an ASUO that works across individual differences to ethically represent all students on campus.
“While we have different platforms, we all have a shared vision for an ASUO working with students for students,” says ASUO Presidential candidate Emma Kallaway. “The students who supported each of our campaigns in the primaries should feel confident that all of the candidates running in our coalition share the same vision of an ASUO that works across individual differences to ethically represent all students on campus.”
Our campaigns have decided to join forces because we share the following values in our visions for the ASUO:
ETHICAL LEADERSHIP
We believe the way you campaign reflects how you’ll govern if elected. You deserve leaders who know what’s right and act accordingly.
BROAD REPRESENTATION OF STUDENTS
The ASUO should represent the diversity of students on campus. Our campaigns are made up of people from many different groups – from Greek Life to the Survival Center.
PRIORITIZING STUDENT CONCERNS
The role of student government is to represent your voice. We believe that hearing your concerns and acting to address them should be the primary responsibility of your student government.
